TODAY: Large Language Models (LLMs): Unlocking Predictive Artificial Intelligence.

Wide Language Models (LLMs), also known as conversational AI or next-generation chatbots, are revolutionizing the world of artificial intelligence (AI), especially in the area of predictive programming.

But what are LLMs?

Imagine an AI system capable of masterfully understanding and generating human language, processing information from a vast data set of text and code. This is the essence of LLMs.

Trained on complex neural networks, these models learn patterns and relationships between words, phrases and codes, allowing them to perform various tasks, such as:

Text generation: Creation of realistic and coherent texts, such as articles, poems, scripts and even code. Translation: Translation of texts from one language to another with high precision and fluidity.

Question Answering: Answering complex questions in a comprehensive and informative way, even if they are open-ended, challenging, or strange.

Text summary: Summarize long texts, preserving the most important information.

Coding: Generation of code in different programming languages, based on natural language descriptions.

LLMs in Predictive Programming:

The ability of LLMs to process and generate natural language makes them valuable tools for predictive programming. Through machine learning techniques, LLMs can analyze large volumes of code and historical data to identify patterns and predict future behavior. This allows developers to:

Automate repetitive tasks: LLMs can automatically generate code, freeing developers to focus on more complex and creative tasks. Identify bugs and glitches:

Through code analysis, LLMs can identify potential bugs and flaws before they cause problems in production.

Optimize code performance: LLMs can suggest optimizations in the code to improve its performance and efficiency.

Predict system failures: By analyzing historical failure data, LLMs can predict when and where failures may occur in a system, enabling preventative measures.

Examples of LLMs in action:

GPT-3: Developed by OpenAI, GPT-3 is one of the most famous and powerful LLMs, capable of generating realistic and creative texts, translating languages, and answering complex questions.

LaMDA: Created by Google AI, LaMDA stands out for its ability to dialogue naturally and fluidly, answering questions in a comprehensive and informative way, even if they are open, challenging or strange.

Jurassic-1 Jumbo: Trained by AI21 Labs, Jurassic-1 Jumbo is an LLM focused on code generation, capable of translating natural language descriptions into code in several programming languages.

The future of LLMs:

LLMs are still in development, but their potential is immense. As technology advances and data availability increases, LLMs will become increasingly sophisticated and capable, revolutionizing the way we program, interact with computers and even the world around us.

Let us remember:

LLMs are powerful tools, but it's important to use them responsibly and ethically.

LLMs are still in development and can make mistakes. It is important to be aware of this and use them with caution.

LLMs do not replace creativity and human knowledge. They are tools that can help us be more productive and creative, but they cannot replace our critical thinking and our ability to solve problems.

LLMs ARE NOT a potential "SkyNet" (and OpenIA is not a Cyberdyne...).

Indeed! It is just a computational program (still currently binary and in the future quantum and post-quantum...) and, like any other program, it is just a hermetic system of data and information configured to execute certain commands through its programming.

There is no 'self-consciousness', whether biological or metaphysical here.

There is no intellective or volitional attribute in a simple computer program!

The secret and unique technological milestone that we will observe in the future and perhaps equate it with fire, the wheel and the combustion engine is the "programming model" itself - being a "broad language model" that in a distant future could be the basis of what we will consider our "Irons Mans" and our "STCs", as we will see below.

...

The X-62A project: it would be our "Iron Man".

First of all, it is good to make it clear that the mention of the term "Iron Man" does not imply the exploitation of the prestige of any world-famous fictional figure in comics, but of a concept, although fictional, taken seriously in works of hard fiction. such as "Warhammer 40K" and other RPGs, which imply the idea of a "standard model of combat unit", which would add the analytical rational predictive capacity of all imaginable possibilities of scenarios of and resulting from combat by an 'artificial intelligence' that , just like a "chess game", it will always be able to defeat any enemy initiative, always having the means and resources to prevail in any imaginable theater of operations, guaranteeing humanity its status as "masters of technology", like its "prompt engineers" to command and secure them as the dominant, global, stellar and even galactic species, culture and civilization...

Was all this 'delirium'?

Maybe not, otherwise we'll see:

The X-62A project, also known as VISTA, is a US Air Force program that aims to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) system capable of assisting pilots in aerial combat. The project is based on a modified F-16 aircraft, equipped with sensors and software that allow AI to make decisions and execute maneuvers autonomously.

What we know so far:

Origin: The X-62A emerged from the NF-16D, a 2019 project that aimed to test real-time flight simulation technologies.

Redesign: In June 2021, the NF-16D was redesignated as the X-62A and underwent modifications to suit the USAF's Skyborg program, which seeks to integrate AI into military aircraft.

Objective: The X-62A is not intended to replace human pilots, but rather to assist them in complex and dangerous missions, increasing the Air Force's capacity and efficiency.

Technology: The X-62A's AI is capable of:

Analyze data from real-time sensors such as radar, cameras and navigation systems.

Make decisions about the aircraft's course of action, including evasive maneuvers and attacks on targets.

Communicate with the human pilot to provide information and recommendations.

Test flights: The X-62A has already performed several successful test flights, demonstrating its ability to operate in conjunction with a human pilot.

Future: The X-62A program is still in development, but has the potential to revolutionize aerial warfare. AI can enable the US to operate aircraft with greater precision, efficiency and safety, as well as enable the development of new tactics and missions.

Impact:

The X-62A represents a significant step in the development of autonomous weapons systems. Despite the potential benefits, the project also raises ethical and safety concerns. It is important that the development of military AI is carried out in a responsible and transparent manner, with measures to ensure accountability and prevent abuse.

"Standart Template Constructor" (STCs), within Warhammer 40k fiction.

If we don't annihilate ourselves in the midst of an upcoming (and increasingly seemingly inevitable) world conflict, perhaps we can reach the stars... And beyond.

But like everything in life and in reality, no action will be probable if we do not make it viable by structuring its resources and as many alternative means as possible to satisfy the outlined purposes of our endeavors.

And until then, what will guarantee our place in the Cosmos will inevitably be a "standard construction model" for all purposes, whether it be the architecture of great futuristic cities in other orbs spread across the universe, whether it be for us to continue making our coffee I express it every single day early in the morning (I really hope that we continue drinking our Nespresso - "What's else", don't you no?...).

Let's take the fictional experience brought in the canon of the grim and dark universe of Warhammer 40k, where we have the idea of the "Standart Template Constructor" (STC), also known as "Standard Construction Model" in Portuguese.

It is, in essence, a comprehensive set of pre-programmed blueprints and instructions that serve as the basis for building virtually everything in the Imperium of Man.

From simple tools and utensils to colossal spaceships and devastating weapons of war, STCs contain the technical and scientific knowledge accumulated over millennia of human history, ensuring the standardization and quality of production across the empire.

Story in the WH 40K timeline:

Although the exact date of creation of STCs is not explicitly mentioned in the official Warhammer 40k lore, it is generally assumed that they date from the Age of Technology (from the year 13,000 to the year 25,000 AD, as per the canon of this hard fiction. ..), the period marked by this great technological advance in humanity, when we became masters of technology and the most advanced species in the entire Milky Way, before the Age of Darkness (another story...).

Importance of STCs:

STCs are vitally important to the survival of the Imperium of Man, as they provide the technological basis for its infrastructure and military capabilities. Without them, the empire would be unable to produce the equipment and weapons necessary to maintain its vast space armada, defend its planets against alien hordes, and sustain its ever-growing population.

Operation of STCs:

STCs are stored in huge databases spread across the empire, often on secure, fortified planets. Access to these databases is restricted to authorized individuals such as Adeptus Mechanicus and members of Technopressia. To use an STC, the user needs to enter a specific command code and then select the desired project. The STC will then provide detailed instructions on how to build the item, including required materials, tools, and construction techniques.

Limitations of STCs:

Despite their crucial importance, STCs are not perfect. Over the millennia, much of the original knowledge has been lost or corrupted, resulting in gaps and inconsistencies in data. Furthermore, the rigidity of standardization imposed by STCs can limit innovation and the development of new technologies.

Impact of STCs on society:

The ubiquity of STCs profoundly shaped the society of the Imperium of Man. The Technopressia, an order of technologists and priests charged with the maintenance and use of STCs, wields enormous power and influence. The belief in the sanctity of the knowledge contained in STCs is fundamental to the doctrine of Technopressia, and any attempt to question or modify this data is seen as heresy.

Conclusion:

STCs are essential elements of Warhammer 40k science fiction, representing humanity's vast technological wealth while also symbolizing the decay and stagnation of the Imperium of Man. Their influence permeates all aspects of imperial society, from industrial production to religious doctrine, making them a fascinating and complex element in this richly detailed universe.

And finally, let's keep in mind that 'artificial intelligence' is just a metomony! These are computational programs like any other, whose secret of technological singularity that will not only change but has already changed the future of all of us as a species was the development of standardization of all possible programmable configurations in a standard model, which began with the LLMs and, whether we like it or not, it will reach its peak with the STCs.

This may take a while...

Today (21/04/2024) we remember the 2,777 years since the founding of Rome, the Eternal City, and this is not an irrelevant event - on the contrary, it concerns us as Brazilians.

The date is also the founding of Brasília, capital of Brazil. Juscelino Kubitschek inaugurated Brasília on April 21 precisely to coincide with the date of the founding of the Eternal City.

Not on a whim, but to strengthen the symbolic association between Rome and the capital of the State that has been thought of by intellectuals and prophesied by mystics as its heir, as the New Rome. For this reason, ancient Rome gave us as a gift a replica of the Capitoline She-Wolf who suckled Romulus and Remus (descendants of the Trojan hero Aeneas and, therefore, of the goddess Venus). And also at the time, the so-called "Symbolic Fire of National Unity" was lit, which should remain lit perpetually.

That Brazil is the legitimate heir of Western Rome is beyond any doubt. It is the largest of the countries born from the Roman/Latin seed. It is also, by nature, an Empire: in addition to being a large-scale politeia, it unites races, ethnicities, cultures and religions under the same idea and towards the same horizon.

The name of the country refers to red, the traditional Roman color; Furthermore, the country in its origins as independent claims the translatio imperii (the transfer of the Roman auctoritas), through a myriad of possible lines (from Spanish to Byzantine, passing through Habsburg, not to mention the Sebastianist mysticism of the Fifth Empire), especially after the extinction of the Holy Roman Empire.

In fact, "Augustus" was one of the titles of the emperors of Brazil, and Pedro I was also offered the titles of Caesar and Autocrat, but he mistakenly refused them.

Happy dreams are also the dreams of Dom Giovanni Bosco, who dreamed that where today is Brasília a "center" would emerge from which milk and honey would flow (an allegory representing abundance).

And these symbolic elements are complemented by the scientific vision of Darcy Ribeiro, who fully understood Brazil and its potential historical role as the center of a new civilization, a tropical heir to ancient Rome.

Commemorating the Foundation of Rome is, therefore, like remembering the memory of an ancestor, of a political project that was a precursor to Brazil and without which Brazil would never have been possible.

It's a shame that our State doesn't formally celebrate this date. It should.

Operational Combat Units and War Armaments in the Main Current Military Doctrines

The world's main military doctrines define the operational combat units and weapons that shape modern armed conflicts in different theaters of operations. Below, we analyze trends on a local, national, continental and global scale:

Local Scale:

Mobile and Light Units: Emphasize speed, flexibility, and lethality in short-duration engagements, such as raids, counterinsurgency, and urban operations. They include:

Light Infantry: Equipped with light weapons, grenades and off-road vehicles for mobility in complex terrain.

Special Forces: Trained for high-risk missions and special operations, such as reconnaissance, sabotage and hostage rescue.

Light Armored Vehicles: Provide protection against small arms and mobile fire support.

Drones: Used for reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence collection and precise attacks.

National Scale:

Armored Brigades: Combine tanks, armored infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery and air support for large-scale offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Mechanized Divisions: Provide strategic mobility and combat power, including mechanized infantry, attack and reconnaissance helicopters, and logistical support units.

Air Force: Essential for controlling airspace, attacking ground targets, air transport and electronic warfare.

Navy: Protects the coastline, maritime lines of communication and national maritime interests, with warships, submarines, marines and naval aviation.

Continental and Global Scale:

Joint Force Groups: Combine units from different Armed Forces for complex, large-scale missions, such as peacekeeping operations or disaster response.

Cyberwar: Ability to attack and defend information systems and communication networks, becoming crucial in the globalized scenario.

Space Weapons: Developing technologies, such as anti-satellite weapons and space defense systems, could influence the global balance of power.

Future Trends:

Increased Automation: Drones, autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence systems can revolutionize the battlefield, reducing the need for human labor and increasing precision and lethality.

Hybrid War: Combination of conventional tactics, irregular warfare, cyber attacks and disinformation to achieve strategic objectives.

Focus on Gray Areas: Conflicts in areas without declared war, such as piracy, terrorism and cybercrime, require new strategies and specialized units.

Comments:

The emphasis on specific units and armaments varies according to each country's doctrines and needs.

Technological development and the characteristics of the theater of operations influence the composition of units and the choice of weapons.

Military doctrine is a dynamic process that adapts to new threats and challenges in the global security environment.

Examples of Famous Operating Units:

75th Ranger Regiment (USA): Elite special force known for its ability to carry out complex and dangerous missions.

Guararapes Armored Brigade (Brazil): One of the main armored units of the Brazilian Army, equipped with Leopard 1A5 and VBTP-MR Guarani tanks.

British Royal Air Force (RAF): One of the oldest and most renowned air forces in the world, with a modern fleet of fighters, bombers and transport aircraft.

Chinese People's Navy (PLAN): The world's largest navy in terms of tonnage, with a growing fleet of aircraft carriers, submarines and destroyers.

Conclusion:

Operational combat units and weapons reflect military doctrines and shape the nature of modern armed conflicts. Understanding trends at different scales and emerging technologies is crucial to analyzing the security challenges of the future.

Iran maintains a significant military force, with several distinctive features in its tactics and strategies. Its traditional armed forces, such as the Army, Navy and Air Force, are supported by a complex network of militias and paramilitary groups, such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Quds Force. These forces have played a crucial role in Iran's regional power projection and driving its asymmetric military strategies.

Regarding asymmetric military tactics, Iran has demonstrated an ability to use a variety of assets, including militias, drones, and short-range rockets, to challenge its opponents. Iran-backed militias, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and various militias in Iraq and Syria played a key role in regional conflicts, providing Iran with an ability to project power without necessarily involving its own conventional forces.

Additionally, Iran has developed a significant drone capability, both for surveillance and strikes. These drones have been used in a variety of operations, including target surveillance, reconnaissance and even air strikes against enemies. The use of drones allows Iran to conduct operations with less risk to its own troops and greater tactical flexibility.

Short-range rockets have also played an important role in Iran's military tactics, especially in confrontations with Israel. Iran has supported militant groups such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, providing them with rockets and training, which are often used against Israeli targets. These short-range rockets pose a significant threat to Israel and have been a source of ongoing tension in the region.

However, it is important to note that despite these asymmetric capabilities, Iran still faces significant challenges in direct confrontations with more conventional military forces. Its asymmetric capabilities and strategies can provide tactical advantages in certain scenarios, but do not completely replace the need for a robust conventional military force.

...

Military experts recognized by the international community have raised several concerns and conclusions about the challenges of asymmetric military tactics employed by Iranian forces, especially with regard to the use of militias, drones and short-range rockets. Here are some of the conclusions that can be found:

Threat to regional and global stability: The asymmetric tactics employed by Iran, including support for militias in other countries in the Middle East region, the development and use of drones and short-range rockets, pose a threat to stability not only in the region, but also globally. These actions can destabilize sensitive areas and lead to conflict escalations.

Challenge to NATO Allied Nations: Iran's asymmetric tactics pose a challenge to NATO Allied Nations as they can undermine security and stability in regions where these nations have strategic interests. This may require a coordinated and strategic response by NATO nations to contain and neutralize these threats.

Adaptation of military doctrines: Iran's effective use of militias, drones, and short-range rockets suggests the need to adapt existing military doctrines. The military must develop capabilities and strategies to effectively deal with these asymmetric threats, which may require a reassessment of defense investment priorities and a greater emphasis on flexibility and rapid response capabilities.

Risk of Proliferation of Asymmetric Tactics: Iran's success in employing asymmetric tactics could serve as a model for other non-state and state actors seeking to challenge conventional powers. This increases the risk of the proliferation of asymmetric tactics in future conflicts, both locally and globally, which could further complicate international security.

In short, the asymmetric tactics employed by Iranian forces pose significant challenges to global stability, especially for NATO allied nations. Adaptation of military doctrines and a coordinated and strategic response are necessary to effectively confront these threats in a constantly evolving security landscape.
